What is this blog about?

This blog is about all IT related topics I’m interested in. Of course I won’t reinvent the wheel. However, I plan to write about things that cost me quite a lot of time to figure out (despite the thousands of other resources out there on the web). I specifically think of tutorials and discussions on Alfresco and Scala, links to to other related websites and blog posts, or of discussions on questions like which system to choose for a specific need.

Why did I call this site ‘processed information’?

At the time I decided to start this blog I was looking for a simple, easily memorable, fairly contentswise fitting, and – above all – available domain. Not an easy undertaking? Right! And that’s one reason why the timespan between when I decided to do so and when I finally did is more easily measured in weeks than in days.

As I figured out I am not the only person blogging about the mentioned topics. Furthermore, all domains related to my name and not containing ugly terms like ‘-online’ were already taken by equal or similar named people, and the cool domain names were presumably already registered before I was born.

Then one day I checked many many information-related domain names and encountered that processed.info is free. And what does this blog present to you if not processed information?! The posts here are about information I gathered, turned into knowledge and again turn into condensed information. And this information will hopefuly in turn lead to new knowledge of you. The difference of knowledge and information? That’s a very interesting question that I will answer sometime in the future (watch out for it – a link will surely be posted here :).

Who is blogging here?

I’m Chris and I’m a software developer and architect from Germany, the CIO of a small company (not related to but of course using IT) and a consultant for information management. You can reach me at chris(at)processed.info.

Beneath the hobbies I made my source of income, I’m also interested in such diverse topics like psychology and dancing (salsa).
